A message from Billy and Carey, the owners...

"We bought our land on Paxos following a holiday and worked with a local builder to design and construct Villa Meli, which we use mainly as a holiday retreat with family and friends.

We both travelled in Greece as students, though not with each other and not to Paxos! When we first visited we were enchanted by the beauty and low-key atmosphere of the island and the wonderful olive-fringed white pebble coves on this part of Paxos. We were very lucky to find some land close enough to walk to our three favourite beaches, and get to know our neighbour who transformed our ideas into action and employed some great local craftsmen to create Villa Meli.

We never tire of watching the sun rise over the mountainous mainland, and toasting it with a glass of local wine as it sets into the sea over the tree-covered northern tip of Paxos. Life slows down here, and we often walk and use the occasional taxi to visit Lakka or Loggos, though many visitors prefer to have a car or hire a scooter. We often intend to leave the house more frequently than we actually do, as the surroundings exert their relaxing influence.

Our outdoor kitchen is probably our favourite place, closely followed by the treetop balcony outside the main bedroom of our house. But it's always hard to choose! Wherever we are, the intensity of the natural light, the dusky green olive leaves stirring in the breeze and the natural sounds of the island are unforgettable. And that's before we start on the views!

Paxos is a small island of great beauty and variety, and further afield the immense cliffs of the western side, the slightly busier natural port of Gaios and a day trip by boat to the fine white sands of Antipaxos are great favourites.

We love sharing the house with visitors, and wish you a joyful and relaxing holiday on Paxos, wherever you choose to stay."
